Geekerella by Ashley Poston

Image
Elle Wittmer has been a fan of  Starfield  for as long as she could remember. After her dad died when she was young, it felt like the only thing she had left of him. Now, she lives with her awful stepmother, Cathrine, and her two terrible daughters, Chloe and Cal. Darien Freeman is the famous actor from Seaside Cove . He finally lands his dream role of Prince Carmindor in the new Starfield  reboot. Many of the fans think he won't be able to pull off the role, including Elle. As ElcesiCon gets closer and closer, Darin starts to think they're right and he's nothing more than a dumb heartthrob until he meets a girl who shows him otherwise. Geekerella was so cute! I loved it so much! I was never a big fan of the original Cinderella  story so this is definitely my favorite version of the story. I can't wait to read the sequel, The Princess the Fangirl. I feel in love with Ashley Poston's characters. I felt so strongly for each one. I loved Elle and Darien not only as se

The Queen's Secret by Jessica Day George

Anthea's discovery of horses was just the beginning. The king soon lets horses roam free in Coranam, but it comes with a price. All riders with the Way are at his bidding. But as soon as horses are allowed in the kingdom again, a mysterious plague starts to spread rapidly through the kingdom. As Queen Josephine reveals one of her largest secrets to Anthea, it seems her mother is up to her old tricks again. First off, I remembered literally NOTHING from The Rose Legacy . It's felt like forever since I read it! Nonetheless, I was able to get a pretty quick hold on The Queen's Secret . I'm sure I'll be just as lost when I get to The Riders Regin though. There were so many confusing moments in this book though that definitely weren't the fault of my poor memory. A chapter would end with this huge reveal and then the next nest chapter would take place hours, sometimes days later. I remember one chapter beginning with someone shooting at the girls in a village when An

Can I guess your favorite genre based on your choice in music?

I love listening to music. When I'm not reading, I'm usually singing along to my favorite songs. I know I've done music-themed quizzes before, but I have another one!

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Image
In the small town of Maycomb, Alabama, Scout spends her summer days playing games with her older brother, Jem, and friend, Dill. Her father, Atticus, is a lawyer and when he takes on the case of Tom Robinson, things only become harder for Scout and Jem. They soon have to face the undeniable truth of racism in the south. To Kill a Mockingbird  was a beautiful novel. It's not hard to see why every high school in America requires you to read this book. Usually, books I have to read in school suck but To Kill a Mockingbird  is something that I would have happily read on my own time. For a classic novel, it was so interesting and the writing wasn't dull at all. I recently found out there was a sequel so I'll be read Go Set a Watchman  hopefully soon.  There are so many quotes in this novel I loved, one being "you never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." The Reptile Room by Lemony Snicket

Image
After Count Olaf escaped, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny are shipped off to Montgomery Montgomery's estate. Except they've never met their Uncle Monty before. For a short while, the orphans are finally happy. That is until Count Olaf shows up disguised as Stephano. The worst part is that no one believes that Stephano is really Olaf.   The Reptile Room is the second book in  A Series of Unfortunate Events . I love the TV show that Netflix made based on this series. This is one of the rare occasions where I like the film adaptation better than the book.  Though this series is typically sad and full of sorrow, I quite enjoy reading these books. They can be really dry at times though and I've found that I like listening to the audiobooks better rather than physically reading the books. I'm also getting through the series faster with the audiobooks and I think I might be able to finally complete this thirteen-book series! Page Count: 192 pages Published: September 3, 1999 Genre:

Here's a playlist to go along with The Hunger Games

Image
The Hunger Games  was such a popular series and today, I'm definitely going to be adding to the hype. I loved the movies but the soundtrack could have been better. That's why today, I found seven songs that make the perfect Hunger Games  playlist. Castle- Halsey Beautiful People- Ed Sheeren ft. Khalid Daisies- Katy Perry Girl on Fire- Alica Keys Black and White- Niall Horan Just Like Fire- P!nk Not You're Barbie Girl- Ava Max About The Hunger Games The Hunger Games is a tradition in the country of Panem. To the Capitol, it's fun and entertaining. To Katniss, it's a nightmare. Each of the twelve districts pulls one boy and one girl to fight to the death on live TV. When Katniss is chosen, it seems like her life is ending. She goes in the games with Peeta by her side as they become the star crossed lovers of District Twelve. But only can be the victor.

Goldilocks: Wanted Dead or Alive by Chris Colfer

Image
Goldilocks is an outlaw who spends her days stealing and running through the Dwaf Forests, the only place where monsters and criminals can live freely. When the Charming brothers threaten to tear down everyone's home, it's up to Goldilocks to save the Dwaf Forests, but to do that, she'll need help from the most notorious outlaws across the kingdoms. Goldilocks recruits the help of Puss in Boots, the Gingerbreadman, and the ever so terrifying Little Miss Muffet. Chris Colfer never ceases to amaze me. The Land of Stories is so rich and I love every story that comes from it. It took me a day to fly through this book. I enjoyed the plot a lot and loved the ending.  I loved that this book explored more of the Charming brothers. They didn't have very big roles in the rest of his books, but they were so evil in this graphic novel! Chris Colfer always creates such immersive worlds full of adventure. I loved getting to see Goldilock's backstory. She has always been one of m

Let's Book Talk: Six of Crows

Image
One of the most hyped YA series there are is the Six of Crows duology. Since I finally  finished the series, I can say with confidence that it deserves all the hype it gets. As always, feel free to comment on this post and start your own discussions. Just a warning to anyone who hasn't read this series yet: there are major spoilers ahead. I love these characters Why are these characters so amazing? Like seriously I loved all of our main characters! Kaz had one of the best character introductions ever.  Wylan is precious Wylan is officially one of my favorite characters of all time. He was so precious. I loved him. He and Jesper are such an adorable couple. Whoever narrated Wylan's chapters in the Crooked Kingdom  audiobook did an amazing job. That Kaz voice killed me. Wylan better be included in season 2 of Shadow and Bone  or I'll be very disappointed. Why I hate Kiwei so much In my review of Crooked Kingdom , I mentioned hating Kiwei. I hate him because of that scene whe

Counting Down With You by Tashie Bhuiyan

Karina Ahmed's plan for the future is to survive high school by keeping her head down and following her parent's strict rules, even if it includes giving up her dream. When her parents go abroad to Bangladesh for a month, Karina expects peace in her life. Instead, a simple lie unravels everything. Tutoring Ace Clyde, the school's resident bad boy, was already crossing a line. But pretending to date him? It's out of the question. If she goes along with Ace's fake dating plan, Karina is promised a dozen books a week. Though Karina agrees, she can't help but start counting down the days until her parents return. Reading this book put a smile on my face. It was such a cute contemporary. This book seemed to have everything. There was a good blend of friendship and family dynamics. The fake-dating trope is always so much fun too. Counting Down With You  was so much fun, yet so emotional at the same time. Though this book looks pretty long, I flew through it so quickl

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

Image
After being rescued from the 75th Hunger Games, Katniss is in District 13. The same district that was said to be destroyed many years ago during the uprising. While she, Bede, and Finnick recover from their recent scare, the Capital has hold of Joanna and Peeta. President Snow must die. A new rebellion is on its way and Katniss will be the face of it. She is the Mockingjay. I've finally finished The Hunger Games  trilogy. Mockingjay  was definitely the longest out of the three books. The first thing I'm going to talk about in this review is the love triangle. In my opinion, it was terrible. We got a glimpse of it in Catching Fire and there was a lot more "romance" in Mockingjay  too. But there was nothing that even made me want to consider Gale as a choice for Katniss. Yeah, he had a crush on her but Peeta was so much better. There was a real connection between Katniss and Peeta. I was really disappointed that Effie wasn't in this book. She was present for a chapt

Who do you ship? Love triangle addition!

Part of Your World by Liz Braswell

Image
What if Ariel had never defeated Ursula?   Five years after the events of the Little Mermaid, Ariel receives word that King Triton might still be alive. She jumps at the chance to finally right the wrongs of her past. She wasn't expecting Trulia to be so different though. Prince Eric is just waking up from the curse placed upon his kingdom. Together, he and Ariel discover that Ursula has much more sinister things in store for the small oceanside kingdom of Trulia. This was such a good book! The pacing could feel so slow at times, but the story kept moving. I loved the story. The Twisted Tales series is so much fun to read. I love these alternate endings to Disney tales. Reading Part of Your World made me want to go back and watch the movie. I've had the song "Part of Your World" stuck in my head for days! Ariel was always my favorite princess when I was younger so I loved getting to go back and revisit her tale. Liz Braswell's version of Ariel and Eric were so m

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Katniss and Peeta descend on their victory tour. The Hunger Games are finally over. But then, they are not. When the Quarter Quell is announced, they find that they will be the victims of yet another Hunger Games. Each district will send two previous victors into the arena for Panem's 75th Annual Hunger Games. To make things even worse, President Snow is after Katniss. He will not rest until she's dead. And she won't rest until she lights the world on fire.  I love Katniss and Peeta! They belong together! So I know that there is supposed to be a love triangle between Gale and Peeta, but it's not that great. Yeah, Gale and Katniss had one kiss but that's it! There is nothing- NOTHING that would ever make me want to give Gale a fighting chance in this battle. Without a doubt, I would say that Peeta is superior in every way.  In my review for The Hunger Games, I mentioned that the book was kinda disturbing. I was expecting the same for Catching Fire but the gore was to

Let's Book Talk: The Hunger Games

Image
The Hunger Games was a wild ride and now that the series is over, there's so much that I want to gush about! So let's talk about The Hunger Games . As always, feel free to share your thoughts on the books in the comments below. Warning! There will be major spoilers for the book series! The Love Triangle      The love triangle in this book sucked. I did not like it! I feel like it was poorly written. The whole time Katniss was obviously leaning towards Peeta. She had absolutely no romantic moments with Gale. I know they had a kiss but I feel like Katniss and Peeta had much better chemistry. I'm interested to know, did you like Gale or Peeta better?      SERIOUSLY! WHO LIKES GALE BETTER? That dude it nothing-  nothing - compared to Peeta. Peeta was sweet and charming and he protected Katniss during the games. Peeta was built so well as a character and I just didn't even care that Gale was even there half the time. In my opinion, the love triangle in these books was horrib

We Can Be Heros by Kyrie McCauley

Beck and Vivian could never stand each other, but they tried for their mutual best friend. When it seems like everyone in Bell has forgotten about Cassie's murder, Beck and Vivian finally find something in common: vengeance. When Cassie comes back as a ghost, Beck and Vivian agree to help her pass onto the afterlife. They secretly paint memorials for Cassie around town, protesting against gun violence in Bell. This is one of the most powerful books I've ever read.  We Can Be Heros  is a heartbreaking novel about standing up to gun violence and domestic abuse. This novel was absolutely stunning. The writing was beautiful.  We Can Be Heros  tackled grief in such a different and thoughtful way. I love the strong theme of feminism. The ending of this book took my breath away. This novel will definitely stay with me for a long time. This book is told from three points of view as well as a podcast. My favorite POV was Cassie's. I love how her chapters were told in verse, though
