Image
I'm not going to waste any time on an intro today so here are all the books I revied this month (and some are actually kind of good :)). Fairest of All by Serena Valentino Rating: 5 stars Series: Villians book 1 This was probably my favorite book I reviewed this month and I do really love this series. Reviews for the next two books are coming out soon. Click here to see my review! We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal Rating: 1 star Series: Sands of Arawiya book 1 This was the only book I DNFed in 2019.  Click here for my review. From the Notebooks of a Middle School Princess by Meg Cabot Rating: 4 stars Series: From the Notebooks of a Middle School Princess book 1 This is more of a 5th-grade level book so I will not be reading the rest of this series.  Click here for my review. Miss You Love You Hate You By by Abby Sher Rating: 5 stars I feel like I should add a trigger warning for this book since it deals with a lot of mental health

Miss You Love You Hate You Bye by Abby Sher (ARC review)

Page Count: 304 (Hardcover)  Publishes: February 18, 2020  My Rating: 5 stars Genre: Contemporary  Amazon link   Hank (short for Hannah) loves her best friend, Zoe. Zoe taught her to do everything and Hank has always longed to be more like Zoe. In her eyes, Zoe is perfect in every way. But after her parent's divorce,  Zoe's perfect facade starts to crumble. Even worse, Zoe develops an eating disorder. It's up to Hank to save the friend she's loved for so long, but can Hank really lead after a lifetime of living in someone else's shadow?   One thing I really love about this book is that it is partly told in letters from Zoe. I can also relate to Zoe because of her parent's divorce and I can understand some of the struggles she is going through. Though I don't usually enjoy contemporary novels, this one exceeded my expectations.

Page Count:192 (Hardcover) Published: May 19, 2015 Rating: 4 stars Series: From the Notebooks of a Middle School Princess book 1 Genre: Contemporary??? (There no magic but at the same time there's a princess soooo?   Olivia has never known her father and her mother died when she was young. She's been living with her aunt and step-uncle ever since. Then one day everything changes. It all starts when Annabelle (who is basically the Heather Chandler of the school {I've been listening to a lot of musicals lately}) threatens to beat her up after school. From there on, the days a mess. That is until Princess Mia Thermopolis of Genovia pulls up in her limousine and offers to take Olivia to the royal family's New York City home.    Just like every other girl, I grew up watching The Princess Diaries  which is the main reason I bought this book. This was a really quick read for me (2 days to be exact) so I probably won't be buying the other books in the series

Page Count: 472 pages (Hardcover) Published: May 14, 2019 Rating: 1 star Series: Sands of Arawiya book 1 Genre: Fantasy    Zafia is the Hunter. If she was ever discovered to be a woman, all her accomplishments would be overlooked. Naiser is the Prince of Death. He murders those who speak out against the Sultan. He strives to prove himself to his father, who seems unimpressed with every victim who dies. The White Witch sends both Zafia and Naiser on a hunt that can bring back the magic. But Zafia and Naiser both have very different intentions for this object.   This book was so incredibly boring. The only interesting parts were the ones that included Kulsum. For the most part, this book was slow-moving and dull. I just couldn't take it anymore so I had to put it down. I couldn't get myself into the story so I decided to stop wasting time on this book and read something that I'll actually enjoy.   This story seemed largely inspired by Alladin . The setting largely refl

Fairest of All by Serena Valentino

Page Count: 250 pages (Hardcover) Published: August 18, 2009 My Rating: 4 stars Series: Villians book 1 Genre: Fantasy   While she may seem like a jealous queen after a young girl's beauty, she is so much more. They may have been logic and heartache behind the Queen's attempts on the sweet girl's life. The Queen struggles with her looks and the trauma from her childhood helps her accept the fact that she must become the fairest of them all.    This is definitely my favorite version of Snow White! From the Queen's early days as a child to her last moments, Serena Valentino took this seemingly innocent fairy tale and turned it into something dark and twisted. This is by far the most heartbreaking story of Snow White ever. At the same time, this book has enough plot twists to keep any reader entertained. You'll never believe who the magic mirror really is!      Even though Snow White has never been my favorite, this is definitely a book I would be willi

Lets Book Talk: A Castle in the Clouds by Kerstin Gier

*** SPOILERS ***   Basically, book talks are me talking about my thoughts on the book and exciting parts. In the comment section below, feel free to comment your thoughts and start a discussion. Don Burkhart Jr.    Who else was annoyed by this character? When he was kidnapped and drugged while playing hide and seek, I really thought he was playing just to get Sophie fired. I would have never thought that he was actually kidnapped.   The Thriller Writer    I was so convinced that this guy was going to be the kidnapper or at least working with them. How else would he have known the EXACT PLOT of the story? The Ludwigs    I loved Mrs. Ludwig at the beginning of the story. I never suspected that she would have been the one behind the kidnappings. Kerstin Gier wrote everything so perfectly. As soon as Mrs. Ludwig knocked on the door to the hotel room the night that Sophie was babysitting Dasha, I knew she was the kidnapper. After that happened, I was racking my br
