December Book Haul!

December is the month where everyone's giving gifts and I was fortunate enough to receive so many amazing books in December that I just can't wait to read! The Glass Queen by Gena Showalter     I've already finished this book and it was amazing! Thought I didn't love it as much as The Evil Queen , The Glass Queen  was a really good book.      Ashleigh was born with a weak heart. After being deemed unfit to rule, she's cast aside by her family and deemed the Glass Princess. One day, she's summoned by her father. Ashleigh learns that she's fated to be Cinderella. Ashleigh's not so sure Cinderellas who she's supposed to be. After falling deeply in love with an avion named Saxon, they find that they have bigger things to deal with when they find a phantom possessing Ashleigh's body. They'll need to free her before they can finally save Sevron.      Part of Your World by Liz Braswell     Ever since I was young, I've always loved The Little Me

My favorite books of 2020

2020 was interesting, to say the least. Though a lot of bad things happened there were also many exciting things. Today, I just want to focus on the good as I talk about some of my favorite books read in 2020. There are just so many books that I fell head over heels for, it was so difficult to just choose ten to put on this list.  10. The Year After You  by Nina de Pass      The Year After You  is a powerful novel about a girl who lost her best friend. I cried so many times while reading this book. For such an incredible story,  The Year After You  did not hey enough praise or hype.       G died. But she survived. This hurts Cara every day. Everything. She is consumed by guilt and grief. Nine months later, Cara is shipped off to a boarding school in Switzerland. Cara is determined to make sure no one knows about the accident. But her new classmates, Ren and Hector, won't let that happen. They won't let her close herself off from the rest of the world. After she built her walls

The One and Only Bob by Kathrine Applegate

Image
After his friends, Ivan and Ruby were sent off to a zoo, Bob settled down with Julia. Bob used to be a street dog but he might be going soft now. After a tornado hits the zoo, Bob thinks he may have caught a whiff of the past. With Ivan and Ruby trailing behind him, Bob sets off on an adventure to find his long lost sister.     This book has four parts. The first part of the book was mainly to recap everything in The One and Only Ivan  which was kinda boring and unneeded. The second part was when the tornado hit while in the third part, Bob tried to find his sister. The last part was kind of like an epilogue.      Unlike the first book in the series, The One and Only Bob  has a much happier, upbeat tone. The story was still a bit sad at times but not nearly depressing as The One and Only Ivan .      The One and Only Bob  was a short book and it flew by quickly. There was never a dull moment. There's also a small twist that changes the way I think about Snickers. Truly a gasp-worthy

Romanov Playlist

Romanov was such a thrilling book and I loved it so much. It was a roller coaster of emotion (especially since I was never really sure who was dead and who wasn't). I think we can all agree that Romanov  is an amazing book and definitely worthy of a playlist!  Roman Holiday- Halsey Renegades- X Ambassadors Broken- lovelytheband Kill Em With Kindness- Selena Gomez Now Or Never- Halsey Getaway Car- Taylor Swift Dollhouse- Melanie Martinez About Romanov Anastasia "Nastya" Romanov has been exiled with her family. Surrounded by people who wanted her dead, Nastya tries to remain kind. She's been tasked with smuggling a hidden spell- one that could get her killed. The leader of the Bolshevik army hunting her. She'll have to release the spell if she wants to save her family. And her growing attraction to Zash doesn't help her either. Until he's on the firing squad, aiming his gun at her.  My review Let's book talk: Romanov

5 Books On My Wishlist

Christmas is in just a few days so I thought I'd share some books that I'm hoping to get this year.  5. Unbirthday by Liz Braswell What if Wonderland was in peril and Alice was very, very late?  Alice is different from the other ladies in Kexford. And that couldn't bother her any less. She runs around town taking photos but when she develops the photos, she starts to see familiar faces in them. The Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, and more from Wonderland. And one of the photos even asks for her help. She only has a short while to stop the Queen of Hearts and save both Wonderland and her world.  4.  My Calamity Jane by Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows, & Brodi Ashton The year is 1876. America's Wild West is bursting with gunslingers, cowboys, and outlaws. Jane is part of Wild Bill's Traveling Show. Frank "the Pistol Prince" Butler is one of the best sharp-shooters there are. And Annie Oakley is slowly falling for Frank (though she won't admit it). After

All American Boys by Jason Reynolds

Rashad has never committed a crime before. But that doesn't stop a cop from beating him senseless on the sidewalk outside of Jerry's. Then there's Quinn. The kid who watched it all happen. The kid who did nothing to stop it. He doesn't want anyone to know he just watched as his classmate laid on the ground defenseless. now these boys have to face the unavoidable truth of racism and police brutality.     All American Boys  was very insightful and as someone who has white privilege, it definitely taught me to be It really inspired some good conversations. It really helped to shine a light on the injustices in America. The book was really powerful,l and I'm happy I read it. I think that this book deserves more hype.     I really liked All American Boys . There was never a moment where I felt bored and wanted to go do something else. I liked that All American Boys was narrated by both Rashad and Quinn. It switched between their POVs. I love it when books do that. Page C

The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton

Image
Ponyboy is a Greaser. Getting blamed and jumped, his life is never perfect.  Not compared to the Socs who live carefree lives. The Socs idea of fun is beating up the Greasers. And Ponyboy knows what to expect from them until someone takes it too far.      I liked the characters in this novel. I think each of the Greasers was written beautifully. And there were so many sides to them it was like they never really knew the character until the end. As for the Socs, they started out as the villains but by the end, Cherry and Randy were super sweet.     I think that it is so cool that S. E. Hinton was only sixteen when she wrote The Outsiders . You would have never have guessed someone her age could write such a fantastic book. It is truly stunning.     The Outsiders  is definitely one of the better books I've had to read for class. After reading this book, I really want to see the movie. Page Count: 180 pages Published: April 24, 1967 Genre: classic, contemporary My Rating: 4 stars Buy

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Image
Clary was always ordinary. Until she walks into Pandemonium and bares witness to a murder. But the police can't see the body. That's when Clary meets the Shadowhunters, the warriors protecting the human world from demons. After Clary's mom is kidnapped by Valentine, a Shadowhunter gone rouge, she enlists the help of Jace to bring her back.      It seems everyone talks about Cassandra Claire. Her books have been huge so for a long so I decided to finally see what all the hype was about. City of Bones , the first of the Mortal Instruments  series, was interesting, to say the least.      I shipped Jace and Clary. They were so cute together and the romantic buildup was great. Some parts of this book were a little much though. Like the scene at Magnes Bane's house.      There were also so great plot twists in City of Bones . There were also some that made me want to rethink my choice to even read this book.      I think this might have just been me, but I swear the POV swit

Let's Book Talk: Romanov

Image
Who else loved Romanov? No answer needed because this book was amazing! It took me a full year to get around to reading Romanov  but when I finally picked this book up, I was stunned by how great it was. So lets talk about Romanov  today!  SPOILERS AHEAD, PROCEED WITH CAUTION! Alexei      Alexei is so cute! From the moment I met him, I adored him.  They Are Ghosts...     Ghosts? Spirits? Lost souls? That part was really confusing. I didn't know what the heck they were. As soon as Nastya said that Alexei was alive, I got so excited (as I mentioned before, I love Alexei). My heart sank a little when I found out that they were ghosts. I truly thought they were dead the first time.     It was much less confusing when they became ghosts the second time.  Zash and Nastya     I LOVE these two. Nastya and Zash are such a cute couple. I wasn't sure how well this romance would work in the beginning but by the end of the book, I was totally on board with this ship. I also felt so betrayed

Who do you ship?

If there's one thing the YA genre is overflowing with, it's romance. I am a huge fan of a little bit of romance in my books and there are just some ships that I just can't choose between! So which one of the following couples are more popular? Let's find out! Books Mentioned: The Cruel Prince  by Holly Black This Savage Song  by Victoria Schwab Cemetery Boys  by Aiden Thomas The Evil Queen  by Gena Showalter Red Queen  by Victoria Aveyard The Hunger Games  by Suzanne Collins The Selection  by Kiera Cass Cinder  by Marissa Myer Love & Gelato  by Jenna Evans Welch Love & Olives by Jenna Evans Welch
