Annie Get Your Gun
By now I've done a lot of musical recommendation posts but I have to say Annie Get Your Gun has been the hardest by far!
There's No Business Like Show Business
"There's No Business Like Show Business" is the opening song of Annie Get Your Gun so it's really just an introduction to the characters and the setting. Where Dreams Descend, show business is something that's constantly coming up.
Synopsis:
I liked Where Dreams Descend a lot! But, it's really no surprise that I liked the book so much though. Like seriously, you can't tell me this book is a "combination of Moulin Rouge and Phantom of the Opera" and expect me not to love it. Kallia has never left Hellfire House. The place that kept her prisoner for so long made her feel trapped. When she escapes, she finds out about a competition to find the next headliner of the Conquering Circus. When she enters alongside her assistant, Aaros, they find sinister things lurk in the shadows. Magicians start disappearing, the walls of the city of Glorian keep them trapped, and tricks start going wrong. Even stranger, someone seems to be sabotaging her.
The Girl That I Married
The first time that Frank Butler met Annie Oakly, he fell instantly in love much like Eliza and Alex when they met each other.
Synopsis:
In the war-torn colonies, Cathrine Schuyler is eager to marry off her three daughters: Angelica, Eliza, and Peggy. The three will find love during the revolution. 1777, a winter's ball. Three beautiful girls, three dashing suitors, and a romance that will go down in history (literally).
You Can't Get a Man With a Gun
Okay so in this song Annie basically sings about how she can't get a man cuz she's too "unladylike." In My Lady Jane, everyone doubts that Jane will ever be able to find a husband due to her poor track record with engagements. Both girls are able to prove everyone wrong by finding love.
Synopsis:
Lady Jane Grey didn't plan to get married. But she does anyway. Edward knows he's dying so he arranges to marry Jane off to Gifford (but he likes to be called G) so he can have an heir. Jane and G aren't thrilled at first. And Janes even less thrilled when she finds out that G is an Eðian. G turns into a horse every morning at sunrise. It isn't long before Edward, Jane, and G find themselves in the middle of a conspiracy that will change England forever.
There's No Bussiness Like Showbusiness Reprise
Like Annie, Ara had never left her home before. Both girls end up going on the adventure of a lifetime and that's pretty much the only connection.
Synopsis:
The Loresmith is the blacksmith who served alongside royals for generations. Ara knows that it is her destiny to become the Loresmith. But she never believed it would come true. The monarchy fell years ago along with the Loresmith. When Princess Nimhea and Prince Emaon take Ara on a quest to fulfill her destiny. The journey takes Ara to new places where she meets Teth, a cunning-and cute- thief.
They Say It's Wonderful
In this song, Annie sings about how amazing it is to be in love. My favorite romance is The Beholder. The Beholder was great. I loved reading about Selah's journey to find a husband.
Synopsis:
Selah is ready for her happily ever after. She is the heir of Potomac. She must find someone to rule beside her. When her proposal ends with rejection, her stepmother sends Selah across the ocean to find new love. If Selah doesn't get engaged, she can't come home at all. But her stepmother has bigger plans that may result in Selah not coming home at all.
My Defenses Are Down
One character I love that was reluctant to love is Everly from The Evil Queen. She was hesitant to fall for Roth but in the end, they had a relationship I loved.
Synopsis:
I Got Lost in His Arms
This song is so romantic that it's almost suffocating. One book that had a little too much romance for my liking was The Hier. Don't get me wrong, the first three books in The Selection series were great! The Heir and The Crown were just written so poorly and the romance was terrible!
Synopsis:
Who Do You Love, I Hope
These two just love each other so much and my favorite bookish couple is Julian and Yadriel from Cemetery Boys. Like Annie and Frank, they have their difference and didn't get along great a first, but it's a pairing you just have to love!
Synopsis:
I Got the Sun in the Morning
"I Got the Sun in the Morning" is a song about being okay with what you have. By the end of Love & Luck, Addie realizes that she loves her brother just the way he is. She spent the whole book being mad at him. She comes to be content with the family she has.
Synopsis:
Addie is visiting Ireland for the summer for her aunt's huge TV wedding. She's hoping for a distraction from her recent heartbreak. But her brother, Ian, won't give her a break. He's pressuring her to tell their mom but Addie is against that at all costs. The two have gone from having a close bond to bickering every few seconds. After finding a guidebook called Ireland for the Heartbroken, maybe she'll be okay. Addie just can't wait to visit her friend in Italy when this is all over. But then plans change and she meets Rowan, a dashing Irish boy.
Anything You Can Do
"Anything You Can Do" is my favorite song from Annie Get Your Gun. In The Henna Wars, Nishat and Flávia have rival henna bussenes. The goal is to have the best one and their romantic rivalry fits right in with Annie and Frank's.
