Frozen

Although Frozen definitely isn't my favorite Disney movie, the Broadway version has some great songs! I recently reviewed Conceal, Don't Feel which is one of Disney's Twisted Tales books. It put such a fun spin on the original film!

Do You Want to Build a Snowman

A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro
Anna and Elsa have the same type of closed-off friendship that Jamie and Charlotte have. While Jamie just wants to be in her life, Charlotte was constantly pushing him away.
Synopsis:
The last place Jamie Watson wants to be is at Sherringford, a boarding school in Connecticut. However, things seem to get more interesting when he meets Charlotte Holmes, the famous detective's great-great-great-granddaughter. She's not only inherited Sherlock's intelligence but his love of solving crimes too. When a student at Sherringford is suspiciously murdered, blame is instantly placed on Charlotte and Jamie. Together, the two will have to work tirelessly to clear their names and solve this mystery before it is too late.

For the First Time in Forever

Cress by Marissa Myer
I don't think any song in this musical is more deserving of a Rapunzel retelling than "For the First Time in Forever."
Synopsis:
Cress has spent her whole life locked in a spaceship, orbiting Earth. After being rescued by Captin Carswell Thorne, their ship crashes in Africa. Meanwhile, Cinder and her crew are preparing to face their next challenge: stopping the royal wedding.

Hans of the Southern Isles

SPOILERS FOR RED QUEEN! Okay, who else totally thought Hans was a good guy the first time he appeared in the film? He totally pulled a Maven on us! Singing "Love Is an Open Door," then doing a complete 180 on us and becoming evil!
Synopsis:
Norta is divided by blood. Those with silver blood rule with their special abilities while those with red blood are forced to be servants. Mare Borrow, a Red girl, lives as a street smart thief in her poor town of the Stilts. In a strange twist of fate, she finds herself wielding a dangerous power. Soon, Mare is living among the Silvers, the people she hates most. But behind the eyes of the public, Mare holds a secret that can get here killed. She has also caught the eyes of two brothers and struggles to chose which one to give her heart to. With a rebellion on the rise and the nation at the peak of the war, is this really the best time for Mare to live among the Silvers?

Dangerous to Dream

Like Elsa, Emmy was told not to dream. Her mother told her that dreaming was useless. Like Elsa, when she finally showed the talents she had, she was near unstoppable.
Synopsis:
Emmy has always dreamed of designing fashion. She wants to walk the elegant halls of the fashion house, working to influence Avon-upon-Kynt's upper class. Now she might finally get a chance to escape from the small town of Shy. The Fashion House opens its doors for girls in the country to compete. Emmy soon finds that the city is nothing like she imagined. No one wants her at the fashion house and someone is even trying to sabotage her. But when she meets the charming Tristian, things start to turn around.

Love Is an Open Door

Where Dreams Descends by Janella Angles
Oh boy if Hans isn't Maven I don't know what other character to compare him with. So let's go with Jack from Where Dreams Descend. I really liked him until I found out he was supposed the be the villain. And even still I liked him better than the love interest of the story.
Synopsis:
Kallia has never left Hellfire House. The place that kept her prisoner for so long made her feel trapped. When she escapes, she finds out about a competition to find the next headliner of the Conquering Circus. When she enters alongside her assistant, Aaros, they find sinister things lurk in the shadows. Magicians start disappearing, the walls of the city of Glorian keep them trapped, and tricks start going wrong. Even stranger, someone seems to be sabotaging her.

What Do You Know About Love?

"What Do You Know About Love" is my favorite song from Frozen. I feel like Maxon and Kristoff would get along so well while Anna and America would be best friends. Besides the fact that both characters are so similar, "What Do You Know About Love" is the start of a love triangle and we all know that The Selection is famous for its love triangle.
Synopsis:
The Selection is a competition of a lifetime. Or at least that's what America Singer has always been told. She would rather stay right where she is in her small town in Carolina with Aspen- her secret boyfriend. But Aspen is a caste below her and America's mother would be deeply disappointed if she ever found out about her secret love. Despite her wishes, America is entered for a chance to be in The Selection. Then, America finds out that she was chosen to compete against the other 34 girls for a chance at Prince Maxon's heart. America now has to fight for a crown she doesn't want. When she finally meets Maxon, she realizes that the life she's always dreamed of might not compare to the future ahead of her.

In Summer

Olaf and summer are two things that don't sound like they work well but totally do. Another polar opposite relationship is Stella and Will from Five Feet Apart. While Stella is organized and has everything scheduled, Will is just all over the place. They end up being such a cute couple in the end.
Synopsis:
Stella Grant has to be in control. The one thing she could never control was her lungs. Stuck with CF, Stella needs new lungs, or else she could die. Will Newman has been transferred from hospital to hospital. Now he's at St. Grace's for a new clinical drug trial. It isn't long before Will catches Stella's eyes. But they know the rule. Six feet apart at all times. But what if they tested their limits? What if instead of six feet, they could be five feet apart?

Hans of the Southern Isles Reprise

I feel like Hans really got to shine in "Hans of the Southern Isles Reprise" just like we got to learn so much more about Maven in King's Cage. I also feel so bad for Maven!
Synopsis:
Though Mare has been taken captive by King Maven, rebellion still burns in her heart. She can't do much confined in the walls of the palace but watch as Maven desperately tries to defeat the Scarlet Gaurd. Meanwhile, Cal trains with the Scarlet Gaurd as they prepare to take back Norta and help Mare escape Maven's cage.

Let It Go

The Henna Wars by Adiba Jaigirdar
Like Elsa, Nishat spent a large part of her life concealing who she was to her family and friends. The strength she shows in The Henna Wars is so inspiring.
Synopsis:
When Nishat comes out to her parents, they don't accept her as who she is. They say Nishat can be whoever she wants as long as she's not herself. They also say Muslim girls aren't lesbians. Nishat can't hide who she is, but she also can't lose her family. In a world where no one else seems to except her beside her family, Nishat is running out of people she can confide in. As if that wasn't bad enough, an old friend from her childhood comes back into her life. Nishat falls for Flávia right away. When a school competition has students create their own business, Nishat and Flávia both chose to do henna, even though Flávia would be appropriating Nishat's culture.

Fixer Upper

If any book character is a fixer-upper, it's Eadlyn from The Heir. There were so many things wrong with this character and she was really infuriating.
Synopsis:
35 suitors. 1 princess. A new Selection has begun. She's been told her parents' Selection was like a perfect fairytale. Now, it's Princess Eadlyns turn for a Selection. But that's not what she wants. As the first female heir of Illa, she's determined to rule alone. That way no one can be more powerful than her. Eadlyn already has three brothers, and now, thirty-five more will come to live with her, and they'll all be competing for her heart, a heart that could never be won.

Monster

So in "Monster," Elsa is basically singing about how destiny wants her to be the villain which is basically what Everly was dealing with the whole time in The Evil Queen. After finding out she was destined to be Snow White's Evil Queen, she wants anything but to be evil.
Synopsis:
Everly Morrow grew up in the mortal world. She was always an outsider, hated by everyone but her sister and mother. In the realm of Enchantia, fairytales are prophecies of the future. After one look through a mirror, Everly finds out she destined to the Evil Queen. Everly doesn't want to be evil. But can she resist the temperature, or will she be consumed by power?

True Love

Love will always find a way to let you down. That is all I learned from this musical. I don't think any character understands that as well as Brystal from A Tale of Witchcraft. Boy, everything is just a huge mess for her in this book. Romance, friendship, it's all falling apart for this girl.
Synopsis:
After she changed the world forever, Brystal thought that everything would be fine. Women were no longer suppressed. Magic was welcomed. What could be better? But then a new school opens. A school for witchcraft. And Brystal's friend Lucy walks right into the witches' trap when she discovers the intentions for the school. At the same time, a century-old brotherhood is rising. They are determined to rid the world of magic, starting with Brystal.

Colder by the Minute

My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, Jodi Meadows
When your favorite character is sentenced to death.
Synopsis:
Lady Jane Grey didn't plan to get married. But she does anyway. Edward knows he's dying so he arranges to marry Jane off to Gifford (but he likes to be called G) so he can have an heir. Jane and G aren't thrilled at first. And Janes even less thrilled when she finds out that G is an Eðian. G turns into a horse every morning at sunrise. It isn't long before Edward, Jane, and G find themselves in the middle of a conspiracy that will change England forever.

When Everything Falls Apart

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol

I admire Olaf because he's able to keep such a happy attitude when everything falls apart. I could never handle it with that mood. It reminds me a lot of Alice from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The girl literally fell down a rabbit hole, was almost murdered by a crazy queen, and met a lot of mad people, and only cried once.
Synopsis:

When Alice follows the White Rabbit down the rabbit hole, she finds a fantastic world full of wonders. Alice's journey introduces her to many weird and wacky characters.
