My Favorite Mythical Creatures

Image
I love getting to explore different creatures. There are so many that I wished existed but only end up being figures of our imagination. Still, I can't help but love mythical creatures so here are a few of my favorites and so books to go along! 5. Hypogriffs While it's true that I didn't like the Harry Potter  series, I did love Buckbeak. Buckbeak was so amazing and I would totally want to ride a hippogriff if I could. 4. Dragons I don't think any dragon book is more popular than  Eragon  by Christopher Paolini. Saphira was a great character and I really liked her. She was also the only reason I forced myself to finish the book. 3. Unicorns Unicorns are one of the most well known magical creatures. Cornelius from  The Land of Stories  series is definitely my favorite unicorn. It might be true that his horn is broken but he's such a trusty steed to Alex. 2. Faeries Faeries are a species that I've discovered more recently. After reading The Cruel Prince , I was in...

Mother Knows Best by Serena Valentino

We all know Rapunzel's side of the story but you might be surprised by Gothel's. Her cruel actions have sweet intentions. From the time she was young, Goethel has loved her sisters, Primrose and Hazel. They made a promise: sisters together forever. And now, Gothel is determined to make sure that they can carry on together. Even if she has to kill her mother, her daughter, or her only friends, she will find a way to be with Hazel and Primrose.         Mother Knows Best  is the fifth book in Serena Valentino's Villains  series. So far, this book is definitely my favorite. When I was reading, I came across some lines from the Tangled  movie and the song was in the book too! I couldn't help but sing along to "Mother Knows Best."         In this book, we get to learn a lot about Mother Gothel who has always been one of my favorite Disney villains (just because the songs so catchy!). As Chris Colfer once said, a "villain is just a victi...

King's Cage by Victoria Aveyard

Image
Though Mare has been taken captive by King Maven, rebellion still burns in her heart. She can't do much confined in the walls of the palace but watch as Maven desperately tries to defeat the Scarlet Gaurd. Meanwhile, Cal trains with the Scarlet Gaurd as they prepare to take back Norta and help Mare escape Maven's cage.     I like the Red Queen series so much! I really liked that King's Cage was told from three different points of view compared to how the first two books in the series were only from Mare's perspective.      I didn't like Cameron's chapters because they felt slow and a bit boring. I did like how she wouldn't glorify characters such as Mare and Cal who I love so much that I don't even see their flaws anymore. After her chapters, I was so bored that I found it hard to get back into the book and that's the main reason King's Cage got three stars.      My favorite chapters actually came from Evangeline. Before King's Cage , I hated...

Recent Reads

Image
The past two weeks have been pretty chill for me. I have some exciting plans for this weekend though! I don't want to get too much into them so I'll just start talking about books now. Here are some of my recent reads. A Separate Peace  by John Knowles Dates read: December 4 - January 18     Let me just go on record stating that it wasn't my choice to read this book. I had to read  A Separate Peace  for my English class and this probably wouldn't be a book I would willingly read. I thought it was pretty boring. Synopsis:     Gene is the opposite of Finny. While everyone loves being around him, Gene is a lonely introvert. The events that happen between the two, however, will erase all innocence of the boys at Devon and bring them to the startling reality of war. My Calamity Jane  by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, & Jodi Meadows Dates read: January 14- January 19     I loved this book! Reading  My Calamity Jane  has made ...

Fantasy Febuary!

Image
I love fantasy books. By this time, it should be no surprise. So in honor of my favorite genre, I decided to dedicate my favorite month of the year (February) to the fantasy genre! All month long my posts will be fantasy-themed.  Every book I read will be, of course, a fantasy book, and I have so many other fun posts planned!       Fantasy has always been my favorite genre since I was little. It gives me a place to escape from the world and I love all the magic. I like the fantasy that transports me into these stunning worlds that I would otherwise never get to visit. Many of my favorite books hail from the fantasy realm so I think it only fair to pay tribute to this amazing genre.      So, I hope you enjoy Fantasy February everyone!

February TBR

January was a great month but I have a feeling February will be even better! There are so many exciting events coming up including my birthday this Saturday. Currently, I don't have many books on my TBR so here are the few I have left! Wicked Saints/Ruthless Gods by Emily A. Duncan     Out of all these books, I am most excited to read Wicked Saints . I'm certain this will be a five-star read and the synopsis sounds so interesting! I also love the cover of this book! So pretty! Goodreads Synopsis:     A girl who can speak to gods must save her people without destroying herself. A prince in danger must decide who to trust. A boy with a monstrous secret waits in the wings. Together, they must assassinate the king and stop the war. In a centuries-long war where beauty and brutality meet, their three paths entwine in a shadowy world of spilled blood and mysterious saints, where a forbidden romance threatens to tip the scales between light and dark. Part of Your Worl...

January Wrap Up

We have officially conquered the first month of 2021! My reading goal for this year is 100 books. According to Goodreads, I'm right on track so let's get started with my January wrap-up! Book Reviews: Almost Home  by Joan Bauer My Rating: 3 stars Almost Home was sad but repetitive. My Review The Queen's Assassin  by Melissa de la Cruz My Rating: 4 stars Series:  The Queen's Secret Wow! This was such a good book! Between the Alex & Eliza series and The Queen's Assassin , I think Melissa de la Cruz is becoming one of my favorite authors. My Review Glass Sword  by Victoria Aveyard My Rating: 4 stars Series: Red Queen book 2 I've been waiting forever to get my hands on the sequel to Red Queen  and it was pretty good. My Review Wonder Woman: Warbringer  by Leigh Barduhgo My Rating: 4 stars Series: DC Icons For my first Leigh Barduhgo book, I was really impressed. After Warbringer , I definitely want to read more of her books, starting with  Shadow...
