Here's Ten Awesome Book Club Books

Image
I love book clubs. I'm in one and I've done mini-book clubs with my friends too. Now, in my book club, we all read different books, but I'll be recommending books for the type of club where everyone reads the same book. SO LET'S JUMP IN! 10. Shadow of a Doubt by Skylar James This is the only book on this list that will probably never get a review on my blog but I still love this book. Heres a synopsis: Fyfe lives on a small farm near Churchhill Downs, the famous racetrack that is home to the Kentucky Derby. A foal, Shadow, is born and Fyfe instantly loves him. Together they have a dream: Fyfe wants to become a famous jockey while Shadow wants to become a racehorse. Even after being told that it would never happen, the pair tries anyway. This book was full of hope and happiness. It was inspiring. That's why I would pick this for a book club.  9. A Castle in the Clouds  by Kerstin Gier This book had so many plot twists and shocking secrets that ...

Struck by Lighting by Chris Colfer

Carson Phillips lives in the small town of Clovis, California. His family was never easy. His father left years ago and his mother might as well be high. With hi snark attitude, Carson has drams of attending Northwestern College at the end of his senior year. But his dreams of escaping the small town comes at a cost. To increase his chances of getting into Northwestern, he has to submit a literary magazine. With a school full of people who hate writing, blackmail is the only choice. With his friend Marley by his side, Carson might finally the small cage of Clovis he's trapped in. I LOVED this book and it's definitely my new favorite stand-alone. I want to watch the movie now to which is Chris Colfer stars in.  I read this book in about two days! There is so much drama in it. The blackmail in this book was incredibly built too.  Carson is snarky and full of crude humor. This book could make anyone laugh out loud, but be ready for the tear-jerking moments that follow. Let's Book Talk: The Best Laid Plans

Image
*** SPOILER ALERT *** Best Laid Plans Book Review   Let's Book Talk is a series I do where I talk all about the book. I do a book talk on the first Friday of every month. This one will be a bit short but next month will be a great book talk. Feel free to comment and spark a conversation. Let's start! James Dean   He seemed nice at first but I didn't feel that click between him and Keely. I also didn't get ANY of his movie references. Who is the real James Dean though? The whole time Keely kept saying "oh he reminded me of James Dean" I'm like who the heck is James Dean ? I imagined Dean looking like Jason Dean from Heathers .  Andrew   He was so sweet to Keely- except for that one part where he broke her heart. I'm happy they got together in the end though.  Danielle   I didn't really like her. At all. She seemed kind of like a stereotypical mean girl-that's-not-actually-too-mean. She reminded me so much of Heather McNama...

Top 10 Books On My Wishlist

Image
I am so bored right now. Here's a list of all the books I really want right now but can't buy because I'm QUARANTINED! Most of these are books I've had on my wishlist for while but there are a few new releases. These books are in no specific order. I'm going to give my own synopsis that I've gathered from what I read from different reviews. The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hard Castle by Stuart Turton    Recently, I've really wanted to read this book. It's been on my list since Christmas but right now I REALLY want to read it. This book is a mystery and it seems so interesting. The synopsis kind of reminds me of the board game Clue .  Synopsis:   There's a part at Blackheath and Evelyn Hardcastle will be killed. But Evelyn doesn't die once. It will happen again and again until Aiden- one of the party guests- can identify the killer. The day will repeat itself over and over again until her murder it solved. And here's the catch: each day...

March Wrap Up (2020)

Image
How is everyone lasting? I'm slowly going insane. This is the eighth day in the row that I am posting. There were so many posts that I did this month so I think it's better if I just jump in and start talking about everything. Book Reviews Blue Skies  by Anne Bustard Rating: 4 stars I think this book was my least favorite out of everything I reviewed this month. It was still a good book. This was another ARC I had but it is out by now. I usually like to post ARCs a month prior to their release but I just forgot about this one for a while. Click here for my review The Tell-Tale Heart  (Graphic Novel+Short Story) by Edgar Allen Poe Rating: 5 stars In this review, I talk about both the graphic novel and the short story.  Click here for my review A Wish in the Dark  by Christina Soontornvat Rating: 5 stars This was another ARC I received. It came out about a week ago. I did so many posts related to this and they're all linked dow...

OWLs Readathon TBR/April TBR

Image
So I am doing two different TBR prompt things. I will explain both. O.W.L.s   I'm going to start with the O.W.Ls. O.W.L.s stand for Ordinary Wizarding Level exams. OWLs are an annual thing and take place during April. After the O.W.L.s are completed, we move onto N.E.W.T.s in August.   Now you may be asking yourself, what are the O.W.L.s. In April, G from Book Roast hosts them. There are prompts for each book. First, you pick a career and build your Hogwarts classes off of that. My career is writer/journalist! I have always wanted to be an author when I'm older so I thought this would be a good career. There are three prompts for this one so let's start! Here's the link to the website where you can find all O.W.L.s information The first prompt I have is History of Magic. For that prompt, I have that is witch hunt: a book featuring witches or wizards. For this prompt, I am rereading The Mother Goose Diaries by Chris Colfer. This book is part of The Land of Sto...

The Best Laid Plans by Cameron Lund (ARC Review)

Keely is the last virgin in her grade. She goes to a school full of hot guys but none have ever hit on her. But then she meets James Dean, a college student. Soon, she is catapulted into a world of crushes, relationships, and drinking. But another lover approaches and Keely must decide between the boy of her dreams and the one she never imagined. This book was like one big rom-com. It had humor, romance, and heartfelt moments. It had a love triangle for the last like 50 pages. For the majority of the book, Keely chases James Dean. The reader follows Keely as she tries to navigate the world of sex and alcohol. Keely is in her senior year if high school. I liked this book a lot. The story-line was very interesting and I loved reading about Keely's feelings with the two boys. It was a very educational book for people (like me) who have never had a sex-ed class yet. This is a great book for people in high school.  Anyway, this book was a nice, light read. It only took me ...
