Recent Reads

I haven't been really productive for the past two weeks, but I managed to read a lot of great books, so here are six books I've read reccently.

A Map of Days by Ransom Riggs

Dates read: April 19- April 24

A Map of Days was the last book I had to reread before The Conference of the Birds. So far, this series has been amazing and I can't wait to read the last two books!

Synopsis:

Having defeated the monstrous threat that nearly destroyed the peculiar world, Jacob Portman is back in Flordia. While exploring his grandfather's house with his peculiar friends, Jacob discovers a secret bunker. When his grandfather's old friend and fellow hallow ghast hunter, H, make contact with Jacob, the peculiar children are tasked to help save a peculiar in need.

Between Burning Worlds by Jessica Brody and Joanne Rendall

Dates read: April 21- April 24

Between Burning Worlds was great and almost as good as Sky Without Stars. I love Gabriel and I hope he's included more in the third book in this series.

Synopsis:

After refusing to give up the location of the Vanargade hideout, Chatine is sent to Bastille. Marcellus is a traitor to Laterre and Alouette is a fugitive on the run. The three are all enemies to a country on the brink of war. When Marcellus uncovers his grandfather's plans to take over the country, it could mean absolute destruction for Chatine and so many others.

Take Me Home Tonight by Morgan Matson

Dates read: April 24- April 25

Take Me Home Tonight is possibly a new favorite of mine! It was so much fun and I couldn't put it down. Stevie and Kat were such loveable characters!

Synopsis:

After her dad cancels on her birthday dinner, Stevie and her friend Kat chose to go to New York for the evening to see a show and have dinner at Josephine's. The only problem is that the two have no phones, family drama sets them on a journey across the city, and somehow they ended up with a pomeranian.

Lily and Dunkin by Donna Gephart

Dates read: April 23- April 26

Transgender and bipolor disorder are two massive subjects to take on for a middle-grade book. It defiantly could have gone better. I think Lily's story was executed pretty well, but Dunkin's could have used more work.

Synopsis:

Lily is a transgender girl. Dunkin has bipolar disorder. After moving from New Jersey, Dunkin meets Lily. At that moment, their lives change forever.

Realm Breaker by Victoria Aveyard

Dates read: April 28- April 30

I loved Red Queen, but Victoria Aveyards new book sucked. It was so boring and I forced myself to finish it. I liked Sorsa, but the other characters were pretty dull.

Synopsis:

Save the world or end it. Andry is the squire of a failed quest. Coranye is the daughter of a fearless pirate. Dom is an immortal prince. Sorsa is a ruthless assassin. The four don't have much in common at first, but they've all been tasked to save the realm before it's too late.

Toyko Ever After by Emiko Jean

Dates read: May 1- May 2

If you loved the Princess Diaries, then you will love Toyko Ever After. Izumi was such a fun character and I loved reading about her. The cover of this book is absolutely stunning too!

Synopsis:

Izumi never felt like she fit in. She has lived in California all her life. She never knew her father but, she finds out something about him that shocks her. Her father is non-other than the crown prince of Japan, meaning Izumi is a princess. When she gets an invitation to travel to Toyko to meet her father, she goes immediately, leaving California behind. When she gets to Japan, Izumi finds that there are more struggles to being a princess than she thought.
