Check, Please! #Hockey by Ngozi Ukazu

Eric Bittle is a former figure skater, a vlogger, and an amazing baker. Soon he'll be adding hockey player to that long list of talents. It's Eric's freshman year and he'll be playing for Samwells hockey team. But he might not be ready. For one thing, he's terrified of checking.         Eric is so freaking adorable. I completely adored him. He is a great LGBTQ character. I could tell he was gay from the moment I started reading. There is any romance really in the book. There's one chapter where he comes out and another where he has a crush. The crush is kinda forgotten for most of the book.         Eric is also always baking. He loves making pies and I think he's amazing. There were also some parts where we caught him singing along with Beyonce!          Check, Please! is without a doubt my favorite graphic novel. #Hockey  covers Eric's first two years of college. The ending to his sophomore year though- I totall...

Stone Keeper by Kazu Kibuishi

Emily's father died two years ago. Now she, her brother, and her mother are moving into the old home of her great grandfather. It isn't very long before strange things start to happen. First Emily stumbles across an amulet. Then strange creatures stalk their basement. After Emily's mother is taken, she and Navin journey into an unknown world to bring her back. What they find is that Emily is the stone keeper.          Stone Keeper is the first book in the Amulet series. There are nine books in total, the last one being published this year.         The book had a very fast pace. So fast that the plot felt rushed. Although rushed, the story also felt under-whelming. I was expecting a bit more based on the reviews I had read. Most people had rated it five stars on Goodreads but I didn't end up liking the book that much.          The art wasn't my favorite too. The shapes of the characters head was a bit we...

The Tell-Tale Heart by Edger Allen Poe Short Story + Graphic Novel (Graphic Novel Wensday)

You may think the narrator is mad. But he's not! And this is why... The evil eye haunted him day and night. He couldn't sleep knowing it was watching him. That's why he decided he must kill the old man. The narrator isn't mad because a madman could not have come up with such a perfect plan!   I read both the short story and the graphic novel version of The Tell-Tale Heart  so I'll start by talking about the graphic novel.   This thrilling graphic novel about murder was the perfect thing to last me through the day. The art in each panel was beautifully drawn. I would definitely read this again. I loved this so much that I even made my brother read it! He also liked it.    The short story isn't as  interesting as the graphic novel (maybe because I read it on CommonLit for class who knows?). But the short story was actually better than most of the other stuff we read. I know that won't be changing any time soon(we're starting Shaksp...
