Book Genre Tag! Can You Pick Your Favorite Genre?
Today, I'll be doing the Book Genre Tag which was created by Violet and the Neverending TBR. I saw this post earlier on Paperfury and thought it would be fun to try it out.
My favorite genre is fantasy! I love the magic and the different worlds. There's always something new and exciting in the genre. I like that each world is different in unique.
Do you have an all-time favorite genre?
My favorite genre is fantasy! I love the magic and the different worlds. There's always something new and exciting in the genre. I like that each world is different in unique. One of your favorite stand-alone books
There aren't too many stand-alone books in the fantasy genre. I feel like most tend to be part of a series. The only book I can think of that isn't part of a series is A Wish in the Dark which I did enjoy.
One of your favorite series
My favorite fantasy series is The Land of Stories by Chris Colfer. I've only read the first book in Dorothy Must Die but I loved that one too.
What is a trope you like in this genre?
- The dying world trope
- The quest trope
- Enemies to lovers trope- this one is probably my favorite. I love to see the protagonist go from hating someone to loving them.
What is a trope you don't like in this genre?
- The chosen one
- The reluctant hero
- The useless parents- I just hate it when the parents don't care when their kids go missing. If they are involved in the fantasy world, it gets so annoying when they won't help the protagonists.
A disappointing book in this genre
I would say Step Sister by Jenifer Donnelly was the most disappointing fantasy book I've read. I wanted to love this book so much but in the end, I DNFed it.
A book that you want to get to soon
Here are a few titles that I just can't wait to read:

An intimidating book or series
I'm intimidated by The Inheritance Cycle because there are so many books in the series. I think there six books in total. The first book, Eragon, is pretty long already.
What is another book genre you want to read more of?
I definitely want to read more dystopian and mystery.
What book genre intimidates you the most?
I would say contemporary because I'm never sure if I'm going to like it or not. I get too bored easily because the books are too realistic. There's no suspense to keep me guessing or magical element to keep me entertained. Sometimes I like contemporaries but sometimes I hate them.
That's it for today! Let me know in the comments what your favorite genre is!
