Let's Book Talk: Time Bomb

I loved the book Time Bomb. There's so much that I want to talk about so let's jump into it! Just a warning that there will be a lot of major spoilers for this book so read at your own risk!

Tad

Tad was undoubtedly my favorite character. I love that we got some LGBT representation. He was such a good character. I don't have any reason why I loved him so much, I just did.

Frankie

I hated Frankie. He sounded like a huge jerk. This dude just couldn't deal with his problems. He kept trying to blame what had happened to Tad but it was HIS fault too. He shouldn't have kept saying it was Tad's problem to deal with. This dude had to get his shit together. Seriously.
Adding onto that, the way Diana described him made him sound like a douche. I still don't understand why he just ditched her in July.
Even though I hated Frankie a lot, I don't think Time Bomb would have been as good without him.

Diana

It made perfect sense that Diana was the bomber (but more on that in a bit). She was so sweet in the beginning I honestly wouldn't have guessed she was the bomber. I got so scared for her whenever something bad happened such as the gun disappearing or whenever each bomb went off. I was a little sad that she died.

How the heck did I guess this plot twist?

That's right! I was able to guess who the bomber was AND the exact reason for doing this. Long story short, I like to annotate my books. Around page 150, I wrote down a theory I thought would only be a joke. Like seriously, I thought it was so far-fetched that no one else would think about it and it couldn't possibly be real.
But then it was. I guessed that Diana would have planted the bombs to help her father's bill pass. It was easy to guess the more I think about it. She stressed about her father's law so much to the point it wasn't easy to ignore.

On a more serious note...

Time Bomb was really fun to read but I don't want to ignore the fact that this could actually happen- and probably has happened before. It's scary to think that people could actually do stuff like this. Someone planting bombs in a school is not so different from bringing a gun in one. And on top of that, here in America, guns are so easy to get.
At the time of reading Time Bomb, I was also watching the TV show Glee. I was on season 4 and anyone who's watched the show probably knows that episode 18 touches on something similar to this book. Feel free to skip the rest of this part if you don't want to know what happens since there will be some spoilers for the TV show.
The kids at McKinley face a terrifying experience as two gunshots fire in the school. Watching the kids in the choir room look so frightened was scary for me. I'm in high school and that could be me someday. What if that was to actually happen?
On top of that, the first time I watched the episode, I was scared because I didn't know where Tina and Brittany were. I'm not going to lie, I started crying when Sam tried to run out of the room to find Brittany. It was a sweet gesture but incredibly stupid. Actually, I was crying during the whole episode. Both times I watched it, it felt so heavy and sad I wasn't able to watch Glee for the rest of the day.

About Time Bomb

Cas, Diana, Rashid, Tad, Z couldn't be more different. The depressed girl, the perfect daughter, the star football player, the kid who everyone makes fun of, the closeted gay, and the trouble maker. What brings them together is an experience that will change their lives forever. The six are all trapped in a school. A school that has bombs inside. Even worse, they overhear on the radio that the bomber is still inside the building. And it happens to be one of them.
