This summer, Delsie is learning: you don't share your deepest feelings with just anyone, some friends are glitter and some are glue, and the sun is always in the sky- it just gets hidden.
Delsie grew up in Cape Cod. She was orphaned by her mother at a young age and never knew her father. She lives with her grandmother who spends her days watching game shows. Delsies best friend, Brandy, only visits during the summer. But when Brandy starts hanging out with Tressa, Delsies summer turns upside down. From cats to sunglasses, Delsie learns that Tressa and Brandy might not be the most welcoming pair. She's about to see a whole new side of Brandy that she never saw was there. Oh yeah, and then theres Ronan. He has no friends and is completely rude, but Delsie might just have found her lighthouse in this thundering rainstorm.
I can relate to Shouting at the Rain in so many ways. For one, I understand the struggles of losing and making new friends. I also know the struggles of losing your new kitten(that'll make much more sense once you read the book though).
I would have made this post earlier, except that I wanted to get the chance to meet the author. Our school picks out a book for everyone to read over the summer. The author came to our school today, and she was so nice. She shared with us our troubled pass, which probably wasn't easy, but for that, I applauded her for. For once, my school managed to pick a good summer reading book.
For anyone who has ever had friend struggles, you should read this book. You never know what you might learn.
